On Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend, (May 27), the Equinunk Historical Society will begin its summer schedule with a tribute to four members of the Maudsley family who all fought in the Civil War - and returned to Lookout.
The program will be presented by historian Helen Adams of Tyler Hill, who has done considerable research into the story of this brave family. The program will continue with a tour of the Equinunk Cemetery, where several noted local veterans are buried. Afterwards, participants will return to the Society to enjoy the Annual Ice Cream Social. Doors will open at noon; the program begins at 1 p.m.
The Historical Society is located at 1972 Pine Mill Rd., where Pine Mill joins the Hancock Highway, Rte. 191, in the center of Equinunk. The Calder Gift Shop will also be open with a display of new stock. Call 570-224-6722 for information.
